During her first year
at the Oklahoma City
Festival of the Arts,
Julie was featured in
“The Oklahoman”, an
article that had countless
festivalgoers, art
students, and news
cameras searching out
her booth following it’s
debut.

Baxter Black, a poet after my own heart! His perfect marriage of literary and physical humor make him a living legend - his way of life an odd mixture of romance and hilarity. Above is my fingertip portrait of "Baxter and Friends," a painting he published in his book "Blazin' Bloats and Cows on Fire!"

Julie was honored to receive the Phippen Family Award at the 2009 George Phippen Museum art show and sale.  The event was certainly a highlight in the artist’s career… though her son was otherwise pre-occupied at the time.

In lieu of her “Best of Show” award at the Trail’s West!® art show, Julie was asked to promote the same event the following year on local ABC news station KQ2.  Julie and Steve’s daughters had the rare opportunity to view one of the live airings from behind the scenes.
